The finest travel brands in Asia and Oceania have been unveiled at a star-studded gala ceremony in Vietnam. The elite of the travel industry assembled for the World Travel Awards (WTA) Asia & Oceania Gala Ceremony 2022 in Ho Chi Minh City to find out who amongst them had been crowned best of the best.<\/p>\n
Winners at the red carpet ceremony included Cambodia, winning its first ever World Travel Awards for \u2018Asia\u2019s Leading Cultural Destination\u2019 and \u2018Asia\u2019s Leading Youth Travel Destination\u2019. Amazing natural beauty combined with world-class levels of hospitality earned Vietnam the title of \u2018Asia\u2019s Leading Destination\u2019, Hanoi claimed the top prize for \u2018Asia\u2019s Leading City Break Destination\u2019 and Ho Chi Minh City won the award for \u2018Asia\u2019s Leading Business Travel Destination\u2019. Meanwhile, New Zealand scooped the title of \u2018Oceania\u2019s Leading Destination\u2019 making it a double victory after Tourism New Zealand lifted the trophy for \u2018Oceania\u2019s Leading Tourist Board\u2019.<\/p>\n
Travel industry VIPs from 35 nations attended the blockbuster event at Ho Chi Minh City\u2019s state-of-the-art GEM Center.<\/p>\n
Graham Cooke, Founder, WTA, said: \u201cWhat an incredible evening was had by our blue-chip audience. WTA had the privilege of recognising the industry\u2019s leading lights from the length and breadth of twin Asia and Oceania regions. \nIn the aviation sector, Singapore Airlines was named \u2018Asia\u2019s Leading Airline\u2019 whilst Vietnam Airlines earned the prestigious accolade of \u2018Asia\u2019s Leading Airline Brand\u2019 as well as \u2018Asia\u2019s Leading Airline \u2013 Economy Class\u2019. AirAsia collected \u2018Asia\u2019s Leading Low-Cost Airline\u2019, Singapore Changi Airport was named \u2018Asia\u2019s Leading Airport\u2019 and Royal Brunei Airlines won the coveted title of \u2018Asia\u2019s Leading Cabin Crew\u2019. Oceania winners included Air New Zealand (\u2018Oceania\u2019s Leading Airline\u2019) and Auckland Airport (\u2018Oceania\u2019s Leading Airport\u2019).<\/p>\n
The refined elegance of Raffles Singapore claimed the ultimate hospitality award for \u2018Asia\u2019s Leading Hotel\u2019, the beguiling blend of French Indochine haute couture led Hotel de la Coupole MGallery to be voted \u2018Asia\u2019s Leading Design Hotel\u2019, and the honour of Asia\u2019s Leading Boutique Beach Resort\u201d went to Amanoi, Vietnam. Newcomer winners included Jakarta\u2019s The Langham (\u2018Asia\u2019s Leading New Hotel\u2019) and Regent Phu Quoc (\u2018Asia\u2019s Leading Resort\u2019). The Ascott Limited marked a remarkable year of expansion with the hospitality giant claiming the award for \u2018Asia\u2019s Leading Serviced Apartment Brand\u2019.<\/p>\n
Big Oceania victories included the top prize for Millbrook Resort, New Zealand (Oceania\u2019s Leading Hotel\u2019), Hyatt Regency Sydney claiming the title of \u2018Oceania\u2019s Leading Business Hotel\u2019 and InterContinental Wellington securing \u2018Oceania\u2019s Leading Conference Hotel\u2019.<\/p>\n
Travel provider winners included Vietravel (\u2018Asia\u2019s Leading Tour Operator\u2019), Abercrombie & Kent (\u2018Oceania\u2019s Leading Tour Operator\u2019) and Sun Group (\u2018Asia\u2019s Leading Integrated Tourism Group\u2019).<\/p>\n
