Novoair 38th National Judo Competition begins
A two-day long 38th National Judo Competition started on Friday under the sponsorship of Bangladesh’s leading private airline Novoair.
Mofizur Rahman, Novoair managing director inaugurated the competition at the Shaheed Suhrawardi Indoor Stadium in Dhaka.
Bangladesh Judo Federation President and former member of parliament Fayzur Rahman presided over the opening ceremony.
At the same time, Kamrun Nahar Hiru, general secretary of the federation, senior officials of Novoair, eminent persons and participants of the competition were present.
Mofizur Rahman said: “Sports play an important role in building a prosperous nation. From its social responsibility, Novoair has been sponsoring various sports including football, cricket, volleyball and golf.”
Fayzur Rahman said: “We have taken various initiatives to popularize Judo in the country. We are working to achieve success at the international level by organizing regular practices and competitions.”
A total of 310 players from 31 teams from different districts of Bangladesh, including the Army, BGB, Police, Ansar, BKSP, Dhaka University and Jagannath University are participating in the competition.
The competition will be held in 7 weight categories in the men’s category and 7 in the women’s category.
Indo-Bangladesh Agri Mechanisation Summit held
A three-day agricultural machinery summit titled Indo-Bangladesh Agri Mechanisation Summit (IBAM) was held on 27-29 January at International Convention City Bashundhara in Dhaka, reads a press release.
METAL, the sole distributor of TAFE & EICHER Tractors in Bangladesh, exhibited several agri-mechanisation products in the pavilion at the summit under the auspices of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and its sister concern, the Tractor and Mechanization Association (TMA), India in collaboration with the FBCCI and the Indian High Commission, Dhaka.
METAL Managing Director Engineer Sadid Jamil, ED & Head of Agri-Machinery Business Lt Col Tarequl Alam Khan (Rtd), ED (Audit & Assurance) Mizanur Rahman and TAFE President Bharatendu Kapoor, Vice President R Sudarsan, AGM Sumedh Varun, Eicher Tractors DGM Partha Sarathi Banerjee along with other high officials from both India & Bangladesh of the respective organizations were present at the summit.
