CAAB urges Canadian envoy to boost air connectivity
The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) has urged its Canadian counterpart to pursue Air Canada code-share with Biman Bangladesh Airlines to increase cooperation between the aviation sectors of the two countries. A meeting was held between the aviation regulatory body, CAAB and Canadian High Commission at the CAAB headquarters recently. Lilly Nicholls, high commissioner of Canada to Bangladesh and CAAB Chairman Air Vice Marshal M Mafidur Rahman were present in the meeting.
They also emphasized on strengthening the relationship between Bangladesh and Canada with the aim of increasing air transport, aviation infrastructure, training and technical assistance between the two countries.
CAAB requested the high commissioner to provide Biman Bangladesh Airlines with necessary support regarding the approval of passenger pick-up and drop-off at the intermediate stopover point on its Dhaka-Toronto flight.
He also requested her to consider the issue of code-sharing between Biman Bangladesh Airlines and the domestic airlines of Canada.
The Canadian envoy assured maximum cooperation in this regard, said in a statement.
