80% of the travel market remains unexplored

State Minister for ICT, Zunaid Ahmed Palak, said Bangladesh had only explored about 20% of its travel market, while the rest remained unexplored.

“Many foreigners and tourists don’t know about the beautiful destinations here. I hope that with the growth of ShareTrip and Startup Bangladesh, the country’s tourism industry will grow at the same pace,” added.

Palak was speaking during a program in Dhaka on Sunday evening, marking the third anniversary of online travel agent ShareTrip.

At the event, ShareTrip presented awards to market players for their contributions to the travel and tourism industries in 2020-2021.

Sami Ahmed, Managing Director of Startup Bangladesh, also attended the event as a special guest. ShareTrip Co-Founder and CEO Sadia Haque and Founder Kashef Rahman were in attendance.

Sami said, “I am delighted to announce Startup Bangladesh’s investment in ShareTrip. Startup Bangladesh proudly welcomes ShareTrip to the family, an organization that has amassed 50% of the country’s online travel market in just three years.

Sadia said, “We are an active change maker in the travel ecosystem. We aim to revolutionize the domestic hospitality industry, which is still in its infancy in Bangladesh.”
