Dhaka University Bangabandhu Tourism Olympiad inaugurated
The year-long Bangabandhu Tourism Olympiad was inaugurated by Bangladesh Tourism Explorers Association (BTEA) on Saturday .
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated this Olympiad on Saturday (February 18) as the chief guest in a function organized at Abdullah Farooq Conference Hall of Faculty of Business Studies. Dhaka University Tourism and Hospitality Management Department Chairman Dr. Santosh Kumar Dev and Associate Professor Dr. Muhammad Swaib-ur-Rehman spoke as the special guest. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman said that Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman established the Bangladesh Tourism Corporation in 1972 with the aim of developing the country’s tourism industry.
He called upon the students to play a role in the modernization and expansion of the country’s tourism industry by adopting the ideals of Bangabandhu. He expressed hope that this Olympiad will play an effective role in spreading Bangabandhu’s tourism philosophy among the new generation.
It should be noted that the students of ninth to twelfth class will participate in this Olympiad throughout the year.
